Mass and Prayer vigil...

(UPDATE: Just read a report this morning that estimated the crowd at 600! I never was very good at estimating. :-))

...to protest late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart. Awesome experience! Thought I would share photos with you all. There were probably 200+ people there. The celebrant for Mass was Auxiliary Bishop Martin Holley, assisted by Auxiliary Bishop Francisco Gonzalez, along with a handful of priests and deacons. Beautiful Mass. Right after, we processed outside and walked the short distance to the clinic, praying the Rosary along the way. We sang hymns in between each mystery. We continued the Rosary once we arrived, ultimately covering all 20 mysteries. During the fifth sorrowful mystery, Jesus Dies on the Cross, we all knelt for a minute of silence. It was a powerful moment as such a huge crowd of people all knelt together as one in prayer. Shortly after, we processed back and completed the Rosary on the steps of the church. An incredible morning! I couldn't help marveling over the fact that here we were, 200 vessels carrying Christ to this new Calvary - this place of slaughter. Carrying Him in spirit and carrying him within our bodies after receiving Holy Eucharist, bringing Christ's body, blood, soul, and divinity here to this place of evil. Christ can turn all things for good and I hope that this was the start of that.

This church and this clinic are not in my Diocese, nor in my county, but they are my neighbor and I felt called to witness with them. It could easily have been my neighborhood. There was talk of having this be a regular occurrence and I hope that it is. Carhart is very arrogant and he has already said that, sure there were people out protesting on Monday (his first day at work), but he hasn't seen anyone since. He needs to know that it's not for show. The people of Maryland want him GONE!!! I hope our leaders in Maryland wake up and see that these lax abortion laws allow any unethical hack with a license to come here and set up shop. Pray with me.

Here are some photos of the day:

Lining up outside after Mass:

My friend Dolores' homemade sign. It pictures Carhart, Obama, and our state Senator and says, "Pray for them that their hearts may turn from abortion."

This is looking down the line behind me. I was maybe in the middle of the procession:

A manger was set up outside the clinic with a 20 week (I believe) fetal model. The sign says: "When they tell you that abortion is a matter just between a woman and her doctor..they're forgetting someone..."

Our Lady of Guadalupe lead the procession:

Several priests and KOC lead the Rosary using a bullhorn:

Man holding Crucifix:

Crowd all kneeling together in silent prayer for a full minute:

Crowd processing back to the church:

Another shot of the crowds:

Finishing the Rosary on the church steps:

Protesting Carhart

Heading out tomorrow early to protest late-term abortion practitioner LeRoy Carhart in his new digs in Maryland. If you haven't already heard about it just Google it - lots has been written.

We have Mass at 8:00 a.m. and then we are processing to the clinic to pray. Please hold us all in prayer - we want him OUT! Out of Maryland and out of business!

Awesome Advent Post

No it's not mine! But this may be the best reflection on Advent I have ever read. I wish I wrote it! The Advent wreath she has is very cool too. I am investigating where I can get one right now as you read this!
